The Great Bacon Run Was Just That – Great!
More than 300 runners and walkers took part in Garden City’s first-ever Great Bacon Run and hundreds more were there to cheer them on.

The fastest runner, Malik Jordan of Wayne, completed the course in 17:01, while the last walked crossed the finish line after an hour and seven minutes. The fastest woman was Lenna Kirby from Columbus, Ohio who clocked in at 22:10.

The kids got into the action, too, as they took part in the Junior Bacon Fun Run, Children 12 years and under raced a half-mile down Central to Maplewood and back. Each child received a participant medal.

Once the race was over, participants snacked on various bacon-flavored goodies, and the top-three winners in each age division were awarded bronze, silver and gold medals.

The Great Bacon Run was jointly sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority, Garden City Public Library, and the Department of Parks & Recreation.
